Who Am I? YOUR B.F.F.

Lee-Anne Boucher

Lee-Anne Boucher Registered Social Worker / Psychotherapist

I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and a Certified Child and Youth Counselor. I have over 30 years experience working with children, youth and families who have various learning and emotional difficulties in educational, residential and social service settings.

My Therapeutic Approach

My approach is a Multi systemic Family and Couples Model. This model derives from John Bowlby- Attachment theory, Murray Bowen- Trans-generational Family Systems theory, Salvador Minuchin- Structured Family Therapy and Emotion- Focused Therapy- Sue Johnson. These are all evidence based therapies that have been successful for families that are experiencing difficulties.

Professional Experience

With over 30 years experience counseling and teaching youth, I have developed a strong understanding of how and what make children and teenagers "tick". I have concentrated my educational pursuits to explore family dynamics and have gained professional skills to counsel and guide families that are struggling.

I have worked for Children's Aid Society in their Parent Model Homes, Service Coordination as a Respite Worker, Boys and Girls Club as a Social Worker Coordinator, Ottawa Board of Education in their Special Support Units and Community Living Units as a Child and Youth Worker. I was A Principal, Teacher and Guidance Counselor in a Ottawa Private School that specialized in learning disabilities. I was a Clinician for 6 group homes in the Ottawa area.

Personal Background

I grew up in a rather unconventional family with my mother, one father, one step-father, five siblings- one biological, one step, three adopted internationally and my extended family that consisted of one grandmother- two step grandmothers, three grandfathers and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. This diversity allowed me to understand and appreciate the complexity of the family and the individual. From my parents, siblings, students and now my own children, I have gained valuable insight into the significant impact the family has on an individual and how it can restore and build a person's esteem.

My Belief

I believe that every person in the family is an equal participant to the others growth and development and all of us are interconnected as part of a working system that is dynamic.

Business Experience

I have over 31 years building and managing different types of businesses from Clinical Group homes, an Independent Private School, Private Practice in Psychotherapy, internships for Graduate Students and Tech and Trade company start ups.

Today, I work alongside a dedicated team of supervisors, supervisees, and interns who share my commitment to providing quality mental health services.
